Local Governing Body
What do the School Governors do?
The governing board is responsible for the strategic direction of our schools, providing challenge and support, and holding the schools to account. Governors work in partnership with the school on planning, developing, and scrutinising policies, and keeping the school’s performance under review. They are not involved in the day-to-day management of the school unless specific issues require their intervention.
Governors are recruited from the parent body and wider community for their skills, experience, and interest in the schools. The governing body is also supported by a clerk, who provides administrative support and professional advice.
The Diocese of Norwich Multi Academy Trusts (DNEAT and St Benet’s MAT) offer exciting volunteer opportunities for new governors from the local community. Being a local governor within our Multi Academy Trusts is a valuable and fulfilling role.
As a governor you will be able to:
- use your own experience of education and life beyond school to inform discussions
- develop and utilise your skills in a board-level environment
- make a meaningful contribution to education and your community
- support and challenge the school so that it improves for all pupils and staff
- bring your unique experiences, perspectives, and insights to decision-making in the interests of the school community
Our Local Governing Body
Our Local Governing Body consists of:
- 5 Trust Appointed Governors
- 2 Parent Governors
- 2 Staff Governors
- The Headteacher
The LGB meets four times a year to discuss the strategic development of the school, monitor performance, review safeguarding, and ensure that both schools in our federation remain focused on providing the best possible education for every pupil.
Diversity and Inclusion
The Churchside Federation Local Governing Body welcomes applications from anyone who is willing to support our Federation’s vision and aims. For complete clarity, we confirm that we welcome—and will consider—applications from all individuals regardless of gender, ethnicity, race, social standing, physical disability, religion, faith, or sexual orientation.
As we are a small Governing Body, we do not feel it is appropriate to report personal information relating to diversity. However, we firmly believe that when people feel respected and included, they are more creative, innovative, and successful. While we acknowledge that there is more work to do in advancing diversity and inclusion, we remain committed to moving our Federation forward in this important area.
