Friday 17th July 2020 Elm Class learning

If you didn’t have a chance to have a go at the virtual sports day yesterday, could you have a go today? All the activities can easily be done from home and when you have completed your activities, you can send me your times and distances covered via email. The winners for each event for each class will be announced when all of the entries are in and you will receive a certificate if you are the winner of an event!

Spellings: Can you get someone to test you on the ‘ough’ spellings today?

Arithmetic: I have uploaded the final arithmetic test for this year, and the answers. Can you have a go at the test and check your answers back? Is there anything you need to continue to practice?

Grammar:  Can you have a go at writing your own sentences today using some of the contracted words you used yesterday?

English: Can you have a go at your final transition activity of the week? Have a look at the suggested activities below. What will you choose today?

Maths: Today, we are going to put all of our time skills to the test and have a go at some time investigations! Can you use your problem solving skills to find a solution to the problems?

Topic: Happy virtual sports day! Can you have a go at the activities listed below? Remember to record the time you finished your event or the distance you covered to me and then we can announce a winner in each event for the class!

Good luck with the sports events!

Miss Coates.

Oak Class Friday 17th July

It’s Friday! We made it!

Thank you so much for sending me your sports day results. I will look at them over the weekend and see who our winners are! I will post on Facebook and send you a certificate! Have a try if you have not done them yet! Good luck!

Phonics: use the lk at the end of words to make the words milk and silk, talk and walk. Say the words, sound them out, write the words down. Now use the words to write a sentence.Read your sentence to someone at home.

Maths: Today I would like you to think about all the things you do at different times of the day. What time do you wake up? What time do you have lunch? What time do you have a bath? What time do you go to bed? Can you draw a picture of something you do and write the time next to it. You could draw a clock next to your picture and show the time using hands.

Literacy: Make a list of all the things you like doing at school so you can let Miss Gannon know.

Sports Day: Continue to send me all your times! Keep going!

You could have a go at making your own rosettes! Have fun everyone and have a great weekend.

Missing you all.
Mrs Tinkley

Maple Class home learning for Friday 17th July 2020

English – read through the letter you wrote for Mr Keeble yesterday and check it makes sense. Have you missed out any words or letters? Can you add any further information?

Maths – today, if you are taking part in the virtual sports day measure the time it takes you to complete events. Remember to include the unit you are measuring by, is it minutes or seconds? Email Mrs Keeler with the information.

Theme – virtual sports day.

Thank you all, have a lovely weekend! Mrs Keeler

Cedar class learning for 17 JULY 2020

Spelling: Can you remember the spelling rule you have been learning this week? Get someone at home to test your memory of it, and then get them to pick out 10 words from your word list and see if you can spell them correctly!

Arithmetic: Get someone to test you with ten questions on your arithmetic focus for the week.

English: LO: to illustrate and describe yourself.

To round the week off I would like you to create a self-portrait using any type of art material you can find; paint, pens, pencils, clay, or even natural objects collaged on a page. Once you have created your self-portrait, write down or draw all of your favourite things around your picture. Feel free to email me any of your work from this week; I would love to see it and can pass anything on to your new teacher that you want them to see!

Maths: LO: to show time on an analogue clock.

Today I would like you to finish off your week by showing off your knowledge of time by drawing hands on clock faces to show a written time. Below are two challenges to test your knowledge on this. If you kept a time diary yesterday, you could go through and draw clock faces to show each of the times you recorded in your diary entries.

Challenge 1

Challenge 2

Oak Class Thursday 16th July

Use the letters l and k to make the end blend of lk. Use the blend lk to make the words sulk, bulk and hulk. Say the words, sound them out, write them down and read them out. Use the words to make your own sentence. I am sure you can think of something with the Incredible Hulk to write about!

Maths: Work out how many minutes are in an hour. Ask lots of different questions relating to the time and see if you can work it out! If you go for a walk at 10 o’clock and it takes an hour, what time will you get home? If you play on the playstation for an hour, how many minutes have you been playing for?

Literacy: I hope you all enjoyed your zoom meeting with Miss Gannon and are feeling excited about going into Hazel Class! Why not write her a letter so she can read about all the things you like doing and all the things you are good at! You could email her your letter!

Sports Day. Check out the information on Sports day on the Facebook page and see which events suit you, or why not try them all! I like the egg and spoon race! Email me your times and I will see who the winner is for each event! I will send the winners a certificate, so give it a go! Good luck everyone!
